June 15th - Full Day Etching Workshop

During the day you will design, make and print an etching plate using Tetrapak,  specialist tools and a range of beautiful inks. Mary will give you all the knowledge you need to continue exploring this beautiful print method and even create more of your own prints at home.

The day will be held in The Shop space here at Coombeshead. All materials and aprons will be provided along with lunch and hot drinks throughout the day. This workshop is perfect for either beginners or someone with more experience of printmaking. Everyone will be learning, so no prior experience is required to join us. Each stage will be fully explained and demonstrated and the day will be lots of fun.

What you will learn-

• How to plan a successful composition
• How to create a Tetrapak etching plate using specialist printing tools
• How to ink up and print your plate onto paper using an etching press
• How to continue this process using 'kitchen table' methods and a pasta maker!

The course will be run by local artist-educator Mary Bowen, who has taught art and printmaking for the last 14 years across London and Devon in schools, charities and most recently the Double Elephant print studio in Exeter. Mary studied fine art (printmaking) at the University of Falmouth and has exhibited her prints and paintings alongside teaching adults and children, and raising her three young children.
